For as long as there have been surf spots, there have been people trying to turn them into marinas, breakwalls, jetties, boat ramps, pulp mills, etc etc. Here are a few sites devoted to threatened surf spots such as Kirra, Bastion point in Victoria, Ollies at Pt Kembla and New Zealand’s Whangamata.

Had a quick troll around the swellnet and coastalwatch cams just now. Swellnet’s Manly cam
offers a much clearer view than CW’s raindrop besmirched but beach level angles, and they need to send out the lens wiper to their Palmy cam as well. On the other hand, CW’s Maroubra cam is drop free, even if [...]
Avalon looks small and fairly junky but okay considering on the Coastalwatch cam.
But CW’s Mona Vale cam shows conditions looking a bit nicer (at around 0720 anyway.
